Got a fruit tree that gives more than you can eat?

Fruit Share Adelaide is a volunteer-run charity that rescues surplus fruit from backyards and orchards across Adelaide. Their volunteers come and pick it, then pass it on to food relief organisations and community groups that support people doing it tough.

Since January 2024, they’ve:

  • rescued more than 45,000 kg of fruit that would otherwise have gone to waste
  • built a team of over 540 volunteers
  • supported more than 125 community organisations

How it works:

  • It’s free. Register your tree online, and a team of volunteers will pick the fruit when it’s ready.
  • Keep some for yourself. You’re welcome to keep up to a third of the harvest.
  • You don’t need to be home, though plenty of owners like to say hello.
  • You’re in safe hands. Every Harvest Leader holds a current police check.

It’s a lovely way to share what grows in your own backyard. Please pass this on to any neighbours with a heavy-laden tree too.
